Description

DIMENSIONS: 4” x 6”

This fair trade and environmentally friendly leather bound journal is made in Rajasthan, India. The leather is embellished with hand embossing and an elastic band secures the flap. All the leather used is “Cruelty Free”, which means leather obtained from naturally dead animals. Livestock has a lot of agricultural and household value for the vegetarian population in this region (Rajasthan, India) which makes it economically unwise to kill animals for their skin.

It is a thick journal with 96 blank handmade cotton rag paper inside, making it 100% tree-free. The artisans collect cotton waste and turn it into a pulp. The final result: a rich texture paper, great for writing, drawing and painting. It makes for a great gift for any occasion!

Additional Info

Leather Craft

In a vegetarian region of Rajasthan, India, the cultural art of leather craft and tooling is inherited through the generations. Cows are revered here, and hides are obtained only after an animal dies of old age or natural causes. Our leather is tanned using a vegetable tanning method, which protects the environment and tannery workers from toxic chemicals. Artisans then use water-based dyes or oils to color the leather. With a set of hand tools, each artisan applies love and skill to cutting, stitching, embossing and embroidering our leather journals, bags, and accessories.
